The British 1/2 Sovereign Gold coin was produced from 1911 to 1925. This coin was freely traded as a circulation coin while Britain was on the gold standard. When Britain abandoned the gold standard, production of the sovereign ceased.
The obverse features an effigy of King George V.
The reverse features an image of St. George the dragon slayer sitting upon a horse, with the dragon below them. This same image has been used on the sovereign for almost 200 years.
