Product Details

With the California Gold rush of 1848 and a new chief engraver to the United States, James B. Longacre, came a newly designed Liberty double eagle. This coin is highly sought after for both its high gold content and its antique value.

Most reputable numismatic grading institutions use the internationally recognized Sheldon grading scale, which ranges from 1 to 70 to grade coin conditions. The MS-62 (which stands for Mint State with a 62 grade) is one of the highest scores a coin may achieve. it’s alternatively referred to as Uncirculated.

Each of the coins maintains a similar, but not always identical, design on both the obverse and reverse.
