A memorable way to protect your savings and celebrate one of the great naval victories of the War of 1812.

The Battle of Lake Erie occurred on September 10th, 1813, comprising nine American ships battling six British ships. Master Commandant O.H. Perry led the U.S. Navy to victory, recapturing Lake Erie which the British had seized at the start of the War.

The obverse of the coin features the John Flanagan effigy of George Washington, as it has appeared on US quarters since 1932.

The reverse features an image of Commodore Perry, with the International Peace Memorial in the background. The memorial was commissioned in 1912, and completed in 1915. It is the largest Doric column in the world at 352 feet tall. In an interesting touch, the weight and fineness of the coin have been engraved on the outer rim.

The America the Beautiful series will eventually comprise 56 unique coins by the time the series is complete in 2021. These US Mint coins are a perfect way build your wealth in ounces, while buying a government minted product with a relatively low premium.
