Secure your 2006 Canadian Wildlife: Sable Island Horse and Foal Silver Coin and grow your wealth today!
This spectacular coin is in celebration of the Sable Island Horse. This lovable and diminutive equine animal can only be found, in Canada, on the crescent shaped island located some 300 kilometers on the South East coast of Nova Scotia. Sable, or Sand, Island was named thusly, due to the abundance of the abrasive and granular substance. However, it was converted into more hospitable pastures with the laying of marram grass throughout the land area of 31 kilometers squared, a testament to the monumental conservational efforts of the government of Nova Scotia.
The reverse side contains the depiction of a mother Sable Island Horse and its young foal nearby. The coin is long before its time, as the detailing is exceptional, with shading and texturing all applied to bring the image to life. Artist Christie Paquet's image is beautified by the contrast between the coin's frosted detailing and the coin's deep ultra-cameo finish.
The obverse side illustrates Susanna Blunt's contemporary effigy of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II over a blank coin field. The proof finish serves to enhance the depiction with the vivid lines contrasting the coin's luster.
The Royal Canadian Mint is known as one of the most reputable mints in the world. The Ottawa Branch of the Royal Mint opened in 1908 and was renamed The Royal Canadian Mint in 1931 when control was transferred to the Canadian government. Their high standards for excellence and quality allowed them to be the first refinery to manufacture 9999 fine gold bullion coins in 1982, as well as the first to reach 99999 fine gold purity in 1998.
