2015 marks the 100th anniversary of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and the 110th anniversary of the Special Theory of Relativity, a cornerstone of modern physics. Giving this coin a uniquely Canadian touch is the use of the famous portrait of Einstein taken in 1948 by Yousuf Karsh. The obverse of this coin features the Yousuf Karsh portrait of Albert Einstein, taken at his office in the Princeton Institute for Advanced Studies. The Royal Canadian Mint engravers have re-created the moment perfectly, using a variety of different finishes and a proof field.
