This coin is the third in the Lunar series from the Royal Mint in the UK. The 1 oz 2016 Year of the Monkey British Royal Mint Gold Coin is part of the auspicious Shēngxiào Collection. Created by British-born Chinese artist Wuon-Gean Ho and inspired by centuries of tradition, this coin features a beautiful monkey design intended to unite Chinese and British heritage.
The reverse features Wuon-Gean Ho's design that showcases a Rhesus monkey swinging amongst trees. It also has the Chinese symbol for monkey and the words "Year of the Monkey 2016 1 oz Fine Gold 9999".
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the script "Elizabeth II D.G. Reg F D 100 Pounds".
The Shēngxiào Collection was created to celebrate the rich tradition of the Chinese Zodiac.
