The beautiful colourized, proof quality coin has vibrant colours, a highly polished appearance and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The mintage, including the two coin sets, is limited to only 6,500 coins worldwide meaning that this is sure to become a prized coin for both numismatic collectors and Star Trek fans.
Star Trek, the original series, debuted in 1966 and only ran for three seasons. The series broke new ground at the time, and explored many different social issues at a time when young people were beginning to question many of the values held by older generations.
The obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Queen Elizabeth II 1 Dollar Tuvalu 2015" and the artist's initials.
The reverse of the coin features a relief of the original U.S.S. Enterprise majestically soaring over a colourized scene with a planet in the foreground. In the background of the colourized portion is a moon with a sun rising behind it. The wreath of laurel leaves surrounding the edges of the coin mimic the logo of the United Federation of Planets and were used in ancient Rome to symbolize victory. The original Enterprise "was" launched in 2245 and is the third of the Constitution-class vessels launched by the United Federation of Planets.
This coin, like the original run of the series, is strictly limited, get yours today before they are all gone!
ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide.
This coin comes in a unique coin container that lights up when opened. The coin container is packed in a black collector's box featuring an overhead view schematic image of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.
