In 2014, The Perth Mint's internationally renowned Australian Lunar Silver Proof Coin Series II celebrated the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
These superb, gilded, proof releases are perfect for people born in "horse" years - 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and in 2014 - who are regarded as hardworking, sociable, optimistic and energetic.
The reverse was designed by Tom Vaughan and depicts two horses by a stream, one drinking, the other standing.
They are surrounded by trees, and rocks.
The horses themselves are gilded (covered in gold).
The traditional Perth mintmark, a simple "P" is inscribed as well as the Chinese character for "horse" and the inscription "Year of the Horse". The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II Australia 1 oz 999 Silver 2014 1 Dollar."
This very limited issue proof coin is gilded in 24-carat gold and is made from 999 pure silver.
It comes sealed in an NGC coin holder and is an Early Release MS 69 graded numismatic!
