This proof quality coin is part of the Royal Canadian Mint's 2014 five-part series featuring four "day in the life scenes" of the iconic Bald Eagle. Collect the entire series to complete the story of a day in the life of the Bald Eagle as it rests, soars, hunts and returns to its perch with the day's catch. The series captures the essence of the Bald Eagle in four scenes depicting it's most important and iconic daily tasks.
The obverse features the Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II D.G. Regina"
The reverse design by Canadian artist Claudio D'Angelo portrays the eagle upon its victorious return with a freshly caught salmon. The eagle perches, resting after its toils, with outstretched wings, likely because it hasn't completely landed yet. The gilding was well chosen as it highlights the majestic, outstretched wings of this icon of North America. In the background the faint clouds give testimony to the extreme heights at which Bald Eagles live. The words "Canada 2014 20 Dollars' and the artist's initials complete the scene.
This coin not only makes a great addition to any wildlife or silver collection, but is part of a very popular series. With a limited mintage of only 8,500 worldwide they won't last long.
This proof quality coin comes encapsulated in a maroon clamshell case with a serialized certificate.
