This coin was designed to display the evolution of a sugar maple leaf through it's cycle of life, while also providing an interesting parallel to the generations of our own family trees. The winged maple key is representative of the children and the promise of new life; the branch represents the progression of time, as flowers turn into young leaves. the deeply veined appearance of the mature leaf then gives way to the broad, elder leaf in autumn.

The Royal Canadian Mint is known as one of the most reputable mints in the world.
